說到台灣的布袋戲....美國電台也引進了. 算是台灣自有的第一部打進美國的藝術節目....
以下是我的引爆怨言: 可是阿...我看到他們的音譯時實在很想宰了那些配音員. 人家明明超高級的武俠對句給我改成黑人街頭低俗語!!! 天哪!!!!!! 半文言的對句就是要翻成中古英文還有押韻的才對味阿!!! 這卡通電台的翻譯和音譯這麼沒文藝水準! 聽到了真的很想宰人! 我追到了原本負責翻譯公司的網站: http://www.animationcollective.com/shows/index.htm 還找到了經理e-mail.... 終於決定寫給這翻譯霹靂布袋戲的美國公司經理, 今晚不知為什麼的那些思路又回到我腦袋中. 我本來在氣完後沒再怎麼想有關布袋戲的事情...但是我覺得不寫又不太對,我會覺得對不起那些布袋戲大師...畢竟有多少觀眾了解雙語又能以比較專業的方式去表達意見? 我還是寫了,盡量站在他們這翻譯公司的角度來評論: 重點在批評他們翻譯的味道不妥當,配搭和原作不協調,和原來社會風俗盡失,也用了很強烈的比喻: "像是魔戒配搭搖滾樂那樣的不適" 但是也照樣不忘了給他們改進的機會和諒解空間,希望他們能夠改進: I wrote in respect: Dear Michael Gold, Chief Operating Officer of Animation Collective: I know your time is precious, I would appreciate greatly for your time. My apology for this blunt reponse fan mail, but I find no where else to turn to for my frustration in regarding to Wulin Warriors Puppet show- the American version your studio have handled. I understand from your site this Wulin Warriors might be one of the first foreign reprograming your studio have done, the way it's done has not presented the show's originality at all. Anyone who saw the original film will not be pleased with this version. If I must put it straight, it's like giving Lord of the Ring hip hop and rock & roll music, that kind of "unfiting" editing. I assume Animation Collective have not done any research in regard to the show's background, nor the culture; thus it's presented quite poorly when it's modified to "connect" with the American Audience. I would like to present you a few points: 1. It doesn't have to be hip hop, rap, rockn' roll to grasp the American audience's heart, something different will do well for it's freshness, (Take Avatar the last air bender for example) which is why the puppet show was brought over, it's a product of a different culture that has earned it's name in various asian nations, I hope to see it presented more accurately in the future. 2. This puppet show is the Pride of a country, an art form special to Taiwanese, and has been kept for centries. Perhaps one who is not in touch with it can care less. But those who grew up with the culture would greatly appreciate the Americans for presenting it right. It will give your studio a good name in another country. 3. If the puppet show's originality is poorly presented, how is it going to grab a real audience? Then aren't all your job become a wasted efford? Please, if you are going to handle more puppet shows from Taiwan in the future, I plead for more acute translation, (perhaps double layer translation will be needed,) presentation of mood and tone. The original lines were all done in thoughtful poetry, not normal American street talks, the titles of the show, the music was planned as carefully as the dolls. I know to do a good job is difficult, budget can be tight, but I look forward to it. A unsatisfied Chinese American fan 居然拿到回信了: Michael Gold to me Thank you for your note. I understand your frustration, particularly if you were expecting to see anything close to the original. As our studio was hired to completely re-write and edit this show based only on the existing video footage(not the dialogue, storylines, sound) to create new characters and storylines from existing footage, we recognize that Wulin Warriors is a completely different property from the original show. We regret that it is not to your liking and hope that perhaps you will find something more to like in one of our own properties, originally created and developed in House. Michael Gold --------------------- 對方基本上就是道歉說:"對不起我們很抱歉做的不符你的期望,我們必須將它全部重新編排,變成和原版完全不同的片子.希望你會看看我們其他的作品看看有沒有你喜歡的." 雙方共識是了解已經做了,已經播放了就沒有可能再更正了,照這個回覆看來,對方也沒有改進,或是要再做類似作品的意願. 這個工作室的作品風格走向和霹靂布袋戲差太多,其實根本就不應該來做這種工作. |

其實如同我先前在霹靂布袋戲進軍美國的討論串中所提到的...
老實說~看到金麥克先生(Mr. Michael Gold)的回應... 我有著跟Mayshing2一樣的遺憾.... 因為到最後似乎好像丟了一句 「很抱歉不符合你的胃口,希望日後敝公司的作品能得到你的支持與愛護」 就收場了.... 美國是個大熔爐~這是個不爭的事實... 多元文化的融合變成了、造就了今日的規模... 但請在引入外國文化之前~請多做點功課、花點時間考究一下... 不要讓他國或別處的傳統文化~變了樣、走了調...

真的很欽佩 mayshing2 見義勇為.寫信去跟他反應.雖然可以預期結果....
不過我個人有點另類解讀. 我認為我們自己也該負一點責任.我們要先自己看的起自己再來談論別人對不對的起你.(你到底是把布袋戲當成一各文化產業再談合約.還是只當成一項商品?).這樣簽合約的時候難道沒有跟他們訂一些條文嗎?後製作的帶子不需要經過創作者審核? 最近泡菜國韓劇大舉入侵阿拉伯.他們不但免費提供版權.還自費幫忙翻譯成阿拉伯文.只有配音才交由阿拉伯進行後製作.他們是凱子嗎?當然不是..他們著眼的是後面的利益.等到韓劇興起.帶動週邊明星產業.觀光.美食.文化.到時候只怕整體帶來的商業利益還大. 反觀我們自己.只顧眼前的權利金賣不賣的掉.若是版權直接賤價賣斷.甚至連合約裡面也不加以條約限制.等到美國用自己的方式亂減一通.(老美的文化素養普遍不高.詩詞對話當然無法翻譯..)國內在來抗議.新聞再報導.粉絲再聲援.那都已經為時已晚....我們的文化已經被踐踏了.(美國是各文化大鎔爐.因為他們自身沒有文化.所以喜好踐踏別人的文化... )不過說到我們那各無能政府更是讓人吐血.行政院新聞局最近在徵選台灣意象.結果布袋戲是票選第一.然後呢?政府只是說未來的標誌.意象將會用布袋戲來進行.....搞這種國內行銷有各屁用呢?只是我們自己看爽而已...真正重要的在於如何對於布袋戲這各文化產業.提供一些實質幫助與作用.再來談論幫忙打入國際吧....... ![]() 聽那些配音.我不但想宰了那些配音員.也很想踹一下當初簽合約的人員...

我個人基本上也不反對~ 不過~針對這次霹靂布袋戲到美國播映會覺得不甚理想的原因... 是因為個人覺得美國方面的詮釋方式讓人看了有種意外(甚至是生氣)的感覺... 畢竟~布袋戲也算是一種表演藝術...被改成那個樣子實在難以接受...

文化差異跟價值觀也不同..會造成片面解讀.
我常懷疑老美看不看的懂押井守的GHOST in the SHELL和 大友克洋的AKIRA.? 目前日本打進美國卡通市場最受到青睞的是..神.奇.寶.貝. 當駭客任務在北美大受好評.其實他的世界觀建構並沒有跳脫在押井守.四郎正宗他們之上. 甚至處處可見到抄襲影子.(攻殼機動隊+世界末日+大都會+超級賽亞人+黃飛鴻..) 最近探討未來的機械公敵也是. 也許宮崎駿的動畫對他們而言算是比較看的懂得卡通.. 不過恐怕宮老想傳達的反戰思想也許看懂得老美並不多. (小布希大概也只願意看玩具總動員或史瑞克吧).. ![]()
